ICMS secures pilot jetty upgrade at Port of Milford Haven

We’re proud to announce we have been awarded the contract for the next stage of significant jetty upgrades at the Port of Milford Haven. The project, which will begin mobilising in November, marks an important milestone in enhancing the port’s infrastructure and strengthening its world-class pilotage service.

The works will see the installation of a new 70-metre by 4-metre heavy-duty pontoon, designed to provide a robust, future-ready platform to support the port’s growing operational needs. Complementing this will be a newly constructed 33-metre gangway, replacing the existing structure to improve accessibility, safety and efficiency for users at all states of the tide.

Mike Ryan, Harbourmaster at the Port of Milford Haven, comments: “This investment will create tailored, fit-for-purpose facilities that will enable our teams to continue delivering a world-class pilotage service. It also ensures the jetty structure is ready to support the arrival of our new pilot vessel, the NGS42, early next year, strengthening resilience and enhancing our operations across the Haven.”

The jetty upgrade is part of a wider modernisation programme at the Port of Milford Haven, focused on improving safety, operational efficiency and the long-term sustainability of its marine services. Recent improvements have already included the replacement of external wave screens, which are now fully operational.

“This investment will create tailored, fit-for-purpose facilities that will enable our teams to continue delivering a world-class pilotage service.

“We are very pleased to have been awarded the contract to build and install the new pontoons and access gangway at the Port of Milford Haven’s pilot jetty,” says Bryan Stewart, Sales Manager at Inland and Coastal. “This flagship project will provide safe walk-to-work access for crews at all levels of the tide, essential for the 24/7, 365-day service that the marine team provides. We will be using our bespoke Heavy-Duty Pontoon system for the world-leading fleet of vessels which is currently in delivery.”

The works at the pilot jetty represent the first phase of a wider programme of improvements at the port, which will also include upgraded staff facilities, as well as enhancements to mechanical, electrical, fuelling and security systems.
