Project Summary
We designed and built a 180m of 4m wide floating breakwater on a chain mooring system ready for the visiting Clipper Festival. Floating amenities (toilet and shower block) were also part of this exciting installation to create a berthing location for visitors in the heart of Derry.
Client | Foyle Port |
Date | 2011 |
Where | Derry City, Northern Ireland |
Our concrete breakwater pontoon was the ideal solution to the brief from Foyle Port to create a marina which could accommodate 1000T vessels, mainly owing to the size of the vessels.
The biggest challenge was incorporating a facilities building onto the pontoon, but working in collaboration with our supply chain we were able to design a bespoke solution to meet the needs of the customer.
Since the festival, visitors to this city centre location can now benefit from toilet and shower facilities when moored alongside.
