Project Summary
Following the installation of two bespoke lock pontoons, all vessels entering or leaving Whitehaven Marina can now tie up alongside a stable, non-slip pontoon as they transit the lock.

Working with the Marina Projects Whitehaven Marina, we designed, manufactured and installed two 22.5m x 1m wide pontoons with a 1100mm freeboard to replace the existing pontoons, which were in poor condition.
The new pontoons were fitted either side of the lock to the existing beam piles within the lock gates at Whitehaven Harbour.
“Designing narrow pontoons with a high freeboard can be challenging, but isn’t an issue for us at ICMS,” says Vincent Carey, our sales engineer. “We manufacture our own floats, encasing them with glass reinforced concrete, which means we can produce them to the required size.”
